Aquaprase is prized for its "oceanic" appearance, often described as having a dreamy or relaxing, sea-like aesthetic. Aquaprase is a rare, recently discovered (circa 2013-2015) variety of chalcedony known for its unique translucent blue-green color, often with matrix patterns resembling sea foam or a top-down view of an ocean. Found in a single location in Africa, this gemstone was identified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) as a distinct, new, and rare, material.
